objects are less random than they may appear
This is sort of a crazy, catch-up post as I haven't posted in some days and a lot has happened in the meantime.

First, the fannish things, because they are more easily discussed:

WARNING: Spoilers behind every cut, including those for the movie Deception, Supernatural episodes 3x13 and 3x14, NCIS Season 5, and all of Torchwood.

1) My dearest Ewan.

Ewan McGregor. One of my truest loves. I maintain that I would listen to the man reading a grocery list - even pay to do so if the opportunity arose - and I have watched him portray everything from a trombone-playing plant worker to an indecently exposed rock star with a cocaine habit and too much eyeliner.

All that being said... (Spoilers for Deception Ahead )

2) And how about those Winchester boys?

'It's uncanny how you managed to both honor his memory and grossly exploit the manner of his death.' )

3) Meanwhile, my NCIS squee...

...knows no bounds. )

4) And then there's Torchwood.

'I should have known right from the start//that you would go and break my heart...' )

Last, Real Life.

Or the least random bit of this randomness. )

Movies VS Books
Strachey fans, help me out:

How unlike the novels are the Strachey movies? Initially, I'd heard good things about the books - but now I'm hearing disparaging comments as well. Before I go about buying all (what, seven?) of them... Has anyone else here read them? What did you think of the characterizations? I love our onscreen Don and Timmy so much :p I don't want my reading experience to color my appreciation of them in a negative way.

timmy/don on the brain
I have five drabbles, a DA ficathon fic, and a crossover missing a paragraph here - some tweaking there.

And after every line I write, I'm clicking on my ImageReady icon and playing with another icon for my [info]tim_don_a_thon entry. Or writing another line in the Strachey!fic I've got going.

That's when I'm not giving up completely and popping Third Man Out back into the dvd. (Oh where, oh where, is my Shock to the System, nice postal man? WHERE?!)

I've joked about fandoms eating my brain, but - dear God - I had no idea what I was talking about! I love those pretty, married boys - oh, I do, I do!

And I love the pretty boys who play them. Why is it that hearing Sebastian Spence is straight makes me want to write Chad/Sebastian RPS so bad? And would I be completely twisted if I did? :p

Ten-Inch Tall (And Flaming-Arrow Proof) - PG13, Jedediah/Octavius, Night at the Museum Slash!
My (probably) final entry for this week's challenge at [info]slashthedrabble:

Title: Ten-Inch Tall (And Flaming-Arrow Proof)
Author: [info]nevcolleil
Fandom, Pairing: Night At the Museum, Jedediah/Octavius
Rating: PG13
Word Count: 300
Disclaimer: The movie is not mine. Nor are its characters.
Summary: It's challenging maintaining a relationship with the commander of a Roman legion... especially when you're a ten-inch tall wax cowboy.

Author's Note: Things just don't get saner around here, do they? :p But I like my insanity, so hopefully someone else does too ;) Let me know if you actually read this!

If you dream it, you can do it. Hence the 24-foot jackal staring at you. Don't make eye contact! )

Movie Meme
1. Pick 10* of your favorite movies.
2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Strike it out when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it and the movie.
5. NO GOOGLING/using IMDb search functions. (i.e. – No cheating!)

* This was 15 :p But I couldn't come up with 5 more. The Flu has futzed up my mind.

I will try to reward the winners with drabble requests.

Look under here for quotes. )

There Come My Tax Dollars at Work to Arrest Me
Saw National Treasure: Book of Secrets last night. I sat and grinned at Riley like a sad little fangirl - he is just too cute for words :D I felt that same stirring of Ben/Riley that the first movie inspired, although I'm starting to dig the Abby/Ben/Riley much more now (!) They're such a little threesome on-screen.

More on them (semi-spoilerish)+ Ben/Mr. President + John Wilkes Booth as Sahjhan )

LJ, Let Me Adore You...
Once again I find myself infatuated with a totally new fandom, and LJ seems to have been ready and waiting to nurture my new interest :) As strange as HSM 2 slash sounded in my head when I wrote my drabble last night, I rewatched the movie today (I was much too distracted during the first viewing by fic-y thoughts) and knew there had to be like-minded slashers out there. The boys were wearing one another's clothes in one scene! You can't tell me that someone over at Disney didn't know what they were saying there.

And sure enough, I found a number of HSM communities when I looked. Not to mention some icons and fics that made me squee a bit :D I've got to check out more of [info]iconthology's work and I enjoyed [info]magickalmolly's Hey Batter, Batter, as well as:

I'll Show You How I Swing - More Ryan/Chad Recs )

It isn't nice of new fandoms to take over my brain these days. I've become crap at doing anything creative about expressing my interest, so any bunnies that attack just sort of stick where they hit and squirm.

I blame sutext-y youth programming. And my children. And even you, [info]chlare, who wrote that lovely bit of Liam/Wes/Will the other day, prompting me to reread your popularity series and no doubt putting me in a receptive mind-set for a East High pairing ;P

The Tommy Lee Jones speech... every time we've got a fugitive. Really?
The tv has been good to me. I enjoyed NCIS this week, I'm going to watch Criminal Minds tonight, and despite my usual lack of interest in reality tv I watched The Biggest Loser last night and actually liked it :p I'm going to miss Supernatural this week, but I suppose after Law & Order: SVU last night I can stand to lay off the drama for a while. SVU killed last night! 0_0 Honestly, it had me doing the edge-of-the-seat, "They can't do that!" thing. I cried! It was amazing. They really aren't pulling any emotional punches this season.

In other non-news, I must see the new National Treasure movie, if only to subject myself to the Riley!slash cravings that are sure to follow :p

Slash Withdrawal and Kikkimax
Man it feels good to get back to the computer :) I haven't had time in weeks and I've been feeling the void :p I've become so slash-deprived I wrote, like, 50 words of slash in my head for the carpenter and the sewing guy on the HGTV design show Divine Design! Plus I watched Spiderman 3 and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, so that didn't help. Harry is exponentially sexier in the third movie and that moment, in Silver Surfer, when this exchange happens:

Reed: Yeah. I didn't play football. I stayed inside and studied like a good little nerd. And now? Fifteen years later... I'm one of the greatest minds of the twenty-first century. I'm engaged to the hottest girl on the planet. And the jock is standing in front of me asking for help, and I say he's not going to get a damned thing unless he does exactly what I say.

Susan: I am so hot for you right now.

Johnny: Me too!

I so feel the Reed/Johnny in that movie. Or Reed/Susan/Johnny maybe :D

Also, NCIS has lost a lot of its Gibbs/DiNozzo-ness for me (though the Tim/Tony still lurks just beneath) and I'm battling the Ziva/Tony beast, but Supernatural has had several slashy moments to keep my slasher's brain busy. Haven't the boys been awesome this season? Wow. And Mercedes McNabb guest-starred last night! Joss totally pimps for Kripke - that's 3 Angel girls who have guest-starred already. I wait in baited breath now for Charisma :) If Fate is kind, she's gotta follow the trend.

Speaking of Fate being kind, I checked my junk e-mail before it automatically rolled over as trash (because sometimes my mailing list messages and such end up there by accident) and I found out I'd been missing my Favorite Author alerts from FanFiction.Net. I've had kikkimax listed there since she wrote some awesome Tony-centric NCIS fics way-back when.

Well, now kikkimax is writing for Supernatural! A World Without Monsters has an amazing kick. Bullies is loads of fun with a little bittersweet. And Defect is one of the best crossovers I've ever read. It combines worlds so seemlessly, has a compelling and clever plotline and features all the things that attracted me to kikkimax's writing in the first place - empathy towards and insight into all of the characters, great attention to detail and the history of the canon (canons), and fresh perspectives on familiar characters and events. I've never seen an episode of Criminal Minds, but I felt totally comfortable in this story and now I'd love to watch the show!
